Dear County Extension Office/Extension Educator/FFA Advisor,
The Pennsylvania Farm Show Junior Market Livestock Department has changed for the 2025 show.
Extension Educators and FFA Advisors will still need to request tags from the Farm Show office for all junior market animals. If an animal already has an 840 RFID tag then no additional tag is needed however the tag number will still need to be recorded with the show office at the Farm Show.
No paper tag forms will be accepted for tagging verification. Each educator/advisor will need to fill out the excel form (attached) to record all exhibitors that tagged animals. The form requires each exhibitor’s name, exhibitor date of birth and animal RFID tag number to be listed. One form per FFA Chapter or 4-H county can be submitted per species. You do not need to submit one form per exhibitor. The tag record form then needs to be submitted to farmshow@pa.gov by the tagging deadlines listed below. It is imperative to the legitimacy of the show that the Extension Educator or FFA Advisor applies the tag to each market animal project before the deadlines: Market Cattle: June 27, 2024, Swine, Sheep and Goats: October 15, 2024. On-farm impromptu RFID inspections may be made by Junior Livestock Committee while animals are on feed.
Reminder that each exhibitor will no longer need to have a paper tag verification form to enter junior market animals. Exhibitors that tag market animals and plan to show at the 2025 Farm Show will only need to enter online at www.farmshow.gov no later than June 27, 2024 for cattle, October 15 for swine, sheep and goats. No late entries will be accepted.
YQCA (Youth for the Quality Care of Animals) will still be a requirement for all junior market exhibitors. The YQCA certificate is due at the time of entry and will need to be uploaded to FairEntry when entries are submitted.
